its either a wheel speed sensor or the ABS control module is toast. I have had the same problem with mine for two years. How many miles where in the car when it happened? I had 60k or so. According to an Audi indy mechanic I talked to, its really common.

Just keep in mind, as long as those lights are on, you have no ABS, so brake accordingly.

actually now that i remember the car had about 90k on, but week or so before i had replaced a cv joint that i blew could it be that the blowing of the cv joint messed up the wheel abs sensor????

no idea where this sensor is or how to replace it, any help??? or instructions would help

thanks

ive got the same issue. the audi/vw tech that i bought my car from said that you just send in your ABS modulator and get it redone for $150 or so. there are links on here. he also said that you can drive your car with the thing taken off. just be careful because you WILL NOT have ABS with the lights on or with the modulator off.

My mom's a6 had the same problem and she had to replace the whole damn module for $200-300.. I think. But in your case, have it looked at, it could be the sensor or the module.

I have the same problem its extremely common. Luckily it sounds like you just need to check fuses #7, 13. If 7 is blown then your problem is fixed.

Ha odd timing, mine just started doing this a couple days ago. It's REALLY random too. At least its an easy fix for once...

I just had mine fixed at http://www.modulemaster.com/ (quick friendly email response, pleasant on the phone, product as described)

other options:
http://www.autoecu.com/ (good email response)
http://www.bba-reman.com/ (didn't try to contact)

plenty to search for on this topic.

If you just had your shaft changed make sure the sensor is all the way in. just reach underneath and push it in as hard as you can. there's a little rubber boot that should be partially compressed if it's in all the way.
