Default AC Condenser Hoses

So the hoses running out of my AC condenser are shot - or at least one of them is.

I bought these hoses off eBay...and just realized these say they both go to the evaporator, not the condenser.

Did I buy the wrong hoses?

So do either of the condenser hoses run to the evaporator? If I have to get to the evaporator I am in over my head - I hear that is hours of work.

Thanks as always for your help, gentlemen.

If you need hoses for your condensor, those are the wrong part. Those go up and over the passenger side front wheel well to the evaporator....that is inside the dash.

Keep in mind you really should replace the dryer every time you open the system.

To review, at least one of my lines is seized on my AC condenser, possibly both, and the system won't hold pressure. The shop wanted $1200 to fix this, which is just way too much money. I am going to attempt this on my own. There are two lines that run from the condenser, but I'm not sure where to completely. I am going to get all the parts I need, install only what I need to, then return what I have left over. See below.

I have bought-

* 8D0260701H - refrigerant hose; (a/c compressor >; a/c condenser); 4-cylinder
* A condenser
* A drier

The Audi parts department says I also need a hose running from the condenser to the expansion valve (whatever that is) but on PartsBase/ECS Tuning, they say the part runs to the evaporator.
* 8D1260710F - refrigerant pipe; (a/c condenser >; evaporator); lhd; 8D1 260 709 N; 4-,6-cyl.

This scares me because getting to the evaporator is apparently a ten hour job. Does this line really go all the way back to the evaporator, or is there a valve in between?

Thanks as always for your help.

AFAIK the only fittings for the evaporator are by the passenger side air intake in the engine bay where the low and high pressure service fittings are. The expansion valve is located in the bulge you see on one of the service fittings (I dont remember which one), this is actually called an orifice tube and is slightly different than an expansion valve. The condenser side of that valve is the high pressure side and the evaporator side is the low side. Along with the dryer, it is also a good idea to replace the orifice tube because it acts as a filter as well, it is very cheap.

BTW do you actually know where the leak is? There are special tools to find leaks so you dont have to throw parts at it but you can do whatever you want..
