Default AC not working

1998 A4 2.8
This last weekend the AC died. I had it checked and it is fully charged. The AC fan (at radiator) comes on when the AC is turned on and the interior blower also works.
The in/out tubes show no temp difference. (both warm).
Any thoughts as to what the problem might be.

Thanks!

KP

Does the A/C compressor kick on?

Yes, I think that the compressor kicks in.

You think?......

Have you had the fault codes read in the A/C control head?

I'm assuming that the compressor is functioning based on a 100 rpm change and a change in the air flow.
I haven't had the codes read yet. Heading to the dealer is the next step if there isn't some obvious remedy.

Thanks!

Look at the front of the A/C compressor and make sure the clutch is engaging and dis-engaging.

well im not sure. i have a 1997audi a4 and i love it. but it is an 11 year old car. so once a year around summer i have to refill my freon. you can buy a freon kit at walmart for like 20-40 bucks. you hook it up onto the tube going into the compressor and push down the nozzle. be sure the compressor is on. u know with the little snow flake showing. and it wont feel like it is going in but the can will be much lighter after you do it. it may take more than one can of freon

Sorry but I can't get a clear view of the compressor to verify clutch function

Do you hear a click?

How much refrigerant did you put in? What are your high and low side readings?

The clutch is not engaging. There is not clicking noise or audible attempt to engage.
The clutch cannot be turned by hand.

Thanks!
