Angry Accident : Grill, front bumper, hood, headlight

Hi folks,

I unluckily got into an accident last evening.. My brakes just gave up on me on a decline and I smashed into the rear of a Highlander.. I was at close range so the speed of impact wasnt greater than 15 miles but I had had a bit of damange on my car.. There wasnt much damange on the highlander other than a dent on the bumper..

Here's a pic of my car..

I have a liablity insurance & since this counts as my fault so I would need to bear the costs of these repairs.. First accident ever in over 10 years of driving expereinces, felt gutted.. The front bumper, the headlight on the drivers side and the hood were damanged.. I also noticed water leaking out of the radiator..

Can you guy flow in your suggestions of a reasonable fix for this situation??
Appreciate the comments !!!!

start looking in the classifieds for parts your going to need them.

Light
hood
radiator
bumper
headlight washer
fender

Id take those pieces off and see what the underlying damage is chances are the wheel well liner is toast front bumper support and a bunch of other little things. Are you planning a DIY or a shop repair?

A Shop repair.. I am based in Houston TX, and I am surely trying to find as many parts I can by myself.. I still do not have a rough quote from the guy where I dropped it off last evening..

is the shop going to let you supply the parts? Get them to give you a full list of what they believe is comprimised. Finding parts takes a while and they also might not want to wait a month for you to find everything

I had the same type of accident in April, take look at the post more then likely you will need most of the same parts. I found most of the parts on craigslist and did the labor myself. Good luck

Should be a few grand unless you do diy. Its really not tough at all but then again we cant see whats behind the surface damage. IF you can find a good part out you can get it all in one place. I bet the hood will be most expensive they are around 300 other than that under 1000 in parts and a weekend of work and you saved yourself money,

Thats not an insignificant impact, theres probably a lot more damage than you can see from the exterior.

Did your airbag go off?

also check here for parts...

http://www.car-part.com/

Stupid lady ran a red light and plowed into me, didnt know it at the time but my insurance lapsed.. I got stuck with the bill. I used this for a lot of parts.. color matched so I didnt have to paint.

hope that helps
