adding a sub and amp to stock system, dyi guide question
Hey guys i am trying to tap into the stock amp right now to drive my new amp and sub woofers.
I am trying to follow the guide on
https://www.audiforums.com/forum/diy-do-yourself-55/adding-sub-amp-bose-system-37033/
and i am a little confused on 12th step and was wondering if anyone has done this and could help me please.
so step 12 says
12. Crimp your male spade connectors onto the ends of the RCA wires you cut, and onto one end of your remote turn-on wire.
which confuses me since i tapped into everything on the step 11 they said but now do i have to add the spade connector to each one of my rca positive cables and connect it to the end of the remote turn on wire then put it into my amp remote turn on slot? so it all be in line ?
Thanks you for help = )

From the instructions, there are two types of connectors. A male spade crimp end and a wire tap.

In step 11 he instructs you to tap into the wiring using the wire taps and in step 12 he instructs you to put the male spade crimp ends onto the ends or your cut wires so you can insert them into the wire taps. This can all be eliminated if you strip the insulation off the source wiring and soldering your cut wiring directly to it which it sounds like you did or you may have used the Scotch Loc wire taps which don't require the male spade connector like this.

Either way if you have connected the wires from your cut RCA's and your remote turn on to the appropriate wire on the OEM amp's wiring harness, you are good to go.

I like the soldering idea but its so uncomfortable to work with that wire harness kinda of annoying actually. Thanks Cybersombosis i got it to work = ). now the only thing is the damn cd skips when the sound is turned up the bass makes it skip lol, i wonder if i can fix that or just get a new head unit so i can connect my iphone to it and that will solve it.
As an alternative, I installed a Digital CD Changer like this
that plugs into the cd changer port on the back of your stock stereo. It also has an aux input to hook up any 1/8 inch source. The head unit thinks that a CD changer is installed so you take an SD card and load it up into 6 directories with up to 99 mp3s in each folder. You can fast forward and rewind with the head unit's controls which is what I was looking for. I installed mine in my glove compartment and can access it on the fly. I got it here and they were very nice to deal with. The website is kind of corny but if you IM them, they will chat with you or email you to get what you want. It's a great alternative to getting an Enfig adapter, getting an Ipod, then getting holder for the Ipod. I didn't want to have to invest in all that hardware so I went this route and it all looks completely stock with no skipping or CD's to fart around with. I think I paid around 100USD shipped to my door.
