Aftermarket air filter

on stock intake? Can this be done?

RE: Aftermarket air filter

are you talking a cone filter or just a drop in? K&N makes a drop in replacement for the stock box but I'm sure you could rig a cone to the stock intake too if you try hard enough. I mean basically just clamp it to the MAF and be done with it.

Yes it can go on he means, I am aware there are going to be no power gains, but it sounds really good.

yes it can be done... I did it to my 00' a4 1.8tQ tip just last week I took the box out dropped the maf in with a cone... It does sound alot better... with the release of throttle it lets off a pshh kinda like a bov...

What i would advise doing though until u get a fmic is to take the factory head shield and cover the turbo...

Also what i did was cut a piece out of the wheel well to get the air flow coming from underneath and i have experienced better throttle response and I believe a few hp gains...

RE: Aftermarket air filter

the intake has nothing to do with the air temp post ic. it will be about the same coming out of the turbo if its sucking in engine temp air or ambient air. Just move it from directly above the turbo and you are fine with it and no need to spend money on a heat sheild
