Unhappy Another Clockspring Thread...

Hi... So I have narrowed down the airbag light in my 99 A4 to the clockspring and need to find a replacement... Every website I visit tells me the OE part is 1J0959653C, however the original part is labeled 1J0959654C and the new clockspring I ordered did not fit... Does anybody know where i can buy the 654C clockspring without spending $500? It's a 99 A4 2.8L w/ tiptronic controls on the steering wheel...

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

You could always try to get one from a parts car or a junkyard. I'm not sure when I'll be going to the pick n pull again, but I can look for one for you when I do.

I'll take a look around my local yards and see what I can find; if you do find one, I would be extremely grateful and more than happy to pay a fair price + shipping, thanks!

Did that on my 99.5 manual a couple years ago. It took the 1J0959653C just fine. when you say it does't fit, you mean it physically doesn't fit? It doesn't fit that little plug or what?

I see what you're talking about. I see the part here, and it's $415. Not much help.

Cancelling ring with slip ring and steering sensor for steering wheel with tiptronic function. TRIPTRONIC. Volkswagen (VW) # 1J0959654M

Yep... a second plug is needed for the tip controls, and even without that the 654C is an entire square part while the 653C is only a round piece... If that makes any sense haha

I think you're headed to the bone yard, or find someone parting out their B5 Tip.

Not bad! My experience with them is that they are usually more expensive than that, but they do know Audis and usually get the part/fit right.
