Default another thread about my misfire

I have a random misfire on cylinders 1, 3 and 4. (probably cyl. 2 also, just no code for that yet)

I recently had my timing chain tensioner gasket and water pump replaced. Does anyone know how I could check and see if he set the timing belt properly? I can't figure out why I'm misfiring but can't afford to take it in to a shop.

I'm getting a spark on all plugs. New plugs correctly gapped. Coilpacks look like they have been replaced. sprayed the plug wires with soap water to check for arcing, none seen. So I think the electrical side is ok. I installed a new FPR adjusted to 5 bar. I haven't checked my injectors but I doubt it's them. I cleaned my MAF. I replaced some vacuum lines. It might be my 02 sensor but I have searched many many many misfire threads, and that hasn't been the problem for anyone. So I think it has to do with the timing. I have a vagcom coming in the mail.

hi i had the same problem it was the o2 sensor check if its giveing you another code thats probally the problem a missfire is really bad and if your check engine light blinks dont drive it because it can mess up your catalytic converter hope this helps but go and get it checked again with a vag scann hope this helps o2 sensors can cause a missfire just dont buy univerals they dont work .

I have never had a code for o2 sensor before though. Do they throw a code when they go bad? The misfire is very bad.. the car cuts out and bucks around if I try to drive it. It idles rough then settles down to normal after a while. Could o2 sensors cause this? The only codes I have are 0300, 0301, 0303, 0304, which are random misfire, then misfire on cyls 1, 3 and 4.

normaly they do says o2 sensor bank 1 sensor1 kinda like that mine started misfireing on one side of the head i have a a8 multiple cylender missfire 5 6 7 and 8 and the o2 sensor i replaced controlled that head i had a o2 sensor malfunction because i had put a universal trying to be cheap it didnt give me the o2 sensor code till later normally if it was the spark plugs or the coil packs it wouldnt missfire like that just be like 1 but not like that , i was told by a mechanic that o2 sensors dont cause missfires their wrong also does your car vibrate a bit when running? like the rpm when you hit the gas just doesnt want to climb up ,? also have you been useing premium fuel? both of the sensors in the front of the engine are the same, but wont fit the back. does yoeur check engine light blink ? also when was the last time you replaced the o2 sensors? they tend to go very bad, so thats what i did. like i said also what codes did you get again? also how long have you been driveing it with the missfire and has the check engine light blinking?

also did it happen all of a sudden ? remeber that 02 sensors control the amount of fuel it goes to your enginewhen the car did drive you would see a lack of performance if it is the o2 sensor like when you accelerate the rpm would get stuck and you press on the gas more and then it climbs
i would take it to like autozone and get it rechecked i bet its the o2 sensor like mine was i think that your car is not geting enough fuel through because of the o2 sensor you got 4 i would just buy one and install it the one that goes in front of the engine and switch it if i isnt the right side because like i said the front ones are the same and if you wana to riskut it and be cheap get a universal sometimes they work but i dont recommend them

i got the codes checked again. only codes that show up are for random misfire on all cylinders. No code for o2 sensors. So can I rule out o2?

Anyone know how to check the timing?

Thanks
