When you guys say "speedtuning chip"...are you saying that you got your ECU reprogrammed by SpeedTuning USA?

Yes, there was a recent group buy that some of us participated in and it seems that most were unhappy with the chip. I got in on the group buy and mine works flawlessly.

I sent my ECU to Oliver. I haven't had an issue with it at all, and it's been about 9 months since I had it flashed. I got either Stage 2 or 3...can't remember. I don't have a boost gauge, so I have no idea what I'm running. Oliver said I'd be running about 16-17psi, and that it would increase hp and torque by about 60 each.

But I do know that ever since I got the ECU reprogrammed, when I get on it, that turbo whistles like crazy!

I have broken the cardinal rule though, and have not upgraded by DV. I'll be picking up probably a Bosch 710N soon....can't justify $100+ for a Forge.

By the way, is the Bosch 710N the stock DV on a TT?

I also have not upgraded my DV and my boost gauge reads about 18 psi but that's only accurate within about +-2 psi. I don't think I would go for an ebay DV but I am in the same boat as you, I'm not really sure on what to get.

check the classifieds here and on different forums for a used dv. and yes the 710N is the stock dv on the tt. I don't recommend the apr R1. it sucks, moo moo honk wooosh.
