Hopefully there is someone out there who can educate a learner on the differences between Diverter Valves and Blow off Valves...

I have a 03 B6 A4 and I want to upgrade to a blow off valve. Is this possible or should one buy a aftermarket diverter valve?

From my research are they pretty much the same but the difference is diverter vavles return the air back into the intake, while blow off release back to the atmosphere... Am i Right?

If so, Does anyone have any suggestions for a high end unit?

Let be the first to say stay away from BOV. The release the excess pressure into the atmospher as opposed to a DV wich releases it into the intake manifold. You can uprgade you diverter valve I just purchased the APR R1. Many mebers of the forum run forge007 DVs. To my knowledge you need to stay away from BOV's because it screws with our computers.

 

Ultimately the recirculated air reaches the intake manifold, but it doesnt directly recirc to there. It recircs back into the airintake plumbing on the opposite side of the engine. Maybe you are confusing intake (as in air intake) and intake manifold (as in where the air is distributed to to each cylinder right before the engine.)

Dont we have a sticky that explains the differences between a DV and BOV somewhere near the top of the page????
