I was looking threw a catalog the other day and saw monroe shocks. I asked my father about them and he said he had used them on some of his old project cars and from what he could remember they worked great. They seem a little cheaper than others and i just found them in the Pep Boys catalog for real cheap.
Anybody got anything on them?

Hi,
I'm from New Zealand and they are pretty big over here and are a very good shock they last a long time. My friend has them on his Integra and it improved his handling **** loads! They have very good technology in them and almost as good as Koni shocks no ****. So I say try them out and you will be happy with them..

I worked in a parts store in the 60s and there were only at that time three companys that built shocks. Monroe was one of them. Not sure about them now but in earlier years they were one of the best.
Good Luck...

Monroe shocks are cheap replacement shocks and are the most popular brand sold by Sears and, well, Monroe Muffler/Brake. I installed a set on my 91 SHO+ back in 2002. I think they lasted 10K miles before they began to leak at every corner.
Stick with KYB, Koni, or Bilstein. Don't cheap out for crappy Monroe shocks.

I was told by performance Audi shop not to even think about them...they don't work very well in Audis...go with Bilstein if you can...if you have the sport suspension, Bilstein Sport, if you have the standard suspension, Bilstein Heavy Duty...same shock, different spring setting in the car.
They're more expensive, but you'll definitely feel the difference over stock in the ride and handling.

Monroe is a cheap version. good for every day drivers but not much beyond that. They do sell some better ones but there is definately better companies for quality.
Check out the link they do some pretty nice stuff here.. Like all products some people have bad experiences along the way, I had a T.e Primera with KYB shocks and king springs on it hard as hell to ride inbut handled insane.. After 6000 miles a shock leaked and I had replaced under warranty so all good..
