I'm going to paint my tail lights today because I hate altezzas.... I figure even if it looks like **** I will just buy some oem's and I was shown a picture of an s4 with red tails in my other thread. My question is what paint should I look for. I'm just being spontaneous so im gonna have to get it from a local auto parts store. I know autozone carries plasti-color then I got Advanced, Nappa and Champion to look for paint at to. What do people recommend? Thanks

and I think they came out pretty good.


I have also heard of people using translucent red (candy apple red?) paint by Testors and then a clear coat. I think you can get it at walmart or somewhere like that for a few bucks.

Ya.. look for 'red lens paint'. There's tons on the web by Van's... one on Amazon too: http://www.amazon.com/Red-Spray-Lens.../dp/B001NJLIDA

You might find it at the parts store, dunno. Tip though: remove the lens and paint the inside, dont laff, I've seen it on the outside

 

^^^LMAO man how do you find all those good deals on eBay. Well I will try to do it in less then 3 hours and if i mess them up I can bid on those. I read on other forums about the testers paint. I will just see what they have, i think walmart stopped selling paint cuz kids were huffing it or something lol. Thanks!

 

Lol yep, I painted the outside of the taillights by the way and I don't see anything wrong with mine. I've done the same way with friends' too and they came out fine.

 

Just a quick pic of the final product im semi happy with it, they look better then gay *** altezzas for sure. I will post some better pics later in my de-rice thread i took these with my phone. I posted pics of the stock rims on the car in that thread as well.

 

I think they look good. What did you end up using to paint? How's the light output now?

 

personally i dont like the look of it. No character or depth to the tails. Would rather buy from ebay or used once from AF user IMO

 

I used krylon plastic paint and a coat of clear. Light output sucks lol, I wanna find out how to do and led swap if it is possible?
