you have to use a line level converter. it accepts the rca connection and has regular wires on the other end. you just hook the rca's from the amp into that and then the wires into any + and - connection on the headunit. some use the stock sub connections, others just splice into the front or rear channels

i got one at walmart for like $22 bukaroos works fine and all it does is tap into the rear speaker outputs (pos+/neg-) for the rear right and left speakers and the other side recives rcas...

altho this is cheap looking its nice for audi v dubs cuz of tight space!!

looks like this \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/

If you convert from speaker signal to a low frequency signal (rca) and run a sub off of it, it will not sound half as good as getting a head unit with RCA outputs built in. In an ideal system you cut off all of the low frequency signals to the tweeds and mid range speakers and send only the lows to the sub. You can't do this with the system you described.
i rock the stock head unit and my system is louder than any of my friends. definitely doesn't hurt performance and you can get a crossover and seperate out the lows mids and highs.

i have replaced all my speakers with Polk, and im running the 2 front's right now cuz the rear amp crapping out on me. I Just went and picked up the line level converter.. so here is my noob question.. what wires go in the back? i cut the stock amp harness plug off and im searching for the pre-amp's cant seem to locate them. any idea's?

oh and thanks for the help im a nub when it comes to audio
the stock headunit doesn't have preamps. thats what the line level converter is for.

or you can get a crossover to get a cleaner sound here's how to install a crossover and at the bottom it explains how to use it with a line level converter http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/IS...s_install.html
