Question Anyone running E85 in there 1.8t

I have seen some people on the net claiming that they are running E85, on non E85 vechiles, but i can't find and info on how to convert over to it unless it is a cheapo looking box that gets plugged into the fuel injectors, but that just doesn't seem right to me. can anyone else shine some light on to this subject???

I would imagine where there is a will there is a way......This thing is simply a computer component that apparently changes the pulse width of your injectors, leaving the injectors open slightly longer delivering more fuel into the combustion chamber for your vehicle to run correctly on E85. You remove the Injector plugs on your Fuel Injectors and plug them into the FlexTek plugs and then insert the FlexTek plug on your Fuel Injectors. You'd have to run better than stock spark plugs as well.

well from the description it has on many other sites, if it does what it claims to, then it should be that easy.

Unfortunately, something like this only applies to where you can get E85, which rules me out.

don't you need special fuel lines for E85 or am i thinking of bio-diesel? there are other problems with running E85: like the fact that you will get less power per pound of fuel burnt; and that the fuel burns much hotter than 87-93 octane so your engine will have to transfer a lot more heat that normal.

Well you will need larger injectors, plus tuning for the larger injectors and more adv timing for the higher octane.

There are a few guys running E85 in their A4, they are all running custom tuning or SEM's. The down side is that the Timing pull CF feature on your stock ECU will be pretty much useless, this means the ecu will not pull timing back to even out the cylinders or help if the ecu is running too much timing.

You need to use 30-35% more fuel with E85 and that is well beyond the lemmiwinks adjustments.

With the change in fuel delivery is it possible to run with E85?

Whats the point in doing this? Running e85 gives you horrible gas mileage so the money you would save on a gallon of fuel you will spend right again cause your gas mileage will drop by like 30%...seems dumb to me

^^^^ what he said

plus most standard engine components are NOT ethanol compatible (seals, gaskets, hoses, etc.)
