Default Audi A4 - 99-01 - Help

Hi all,

I'm looking to get rid of my Honda and pick up an A4...from 99-01 standard tranny. I've been looking at the 1.8T models. I'm wondering though..are these cars reliable or should I set a side a load of cash for repairs on these cars in comparison to hondas?

I found a few good deals on 99-2000 audi a4's but they had about 250K. Should I steer away? Do audi's typically have engine/tranny/clutch/suspension/wiring, etc, problems after certain mileage? I know some other car manufactures and models turn in to lemons after a certain amount of K.

- Is there a huge difference between the 99-01 a4's in regards to engine performance, exterior and interior changes along with reliability?

Thanks a lot

I personally would never buy an audi with 250k. Parts are most likely going to cost more than a honda labor is a joke. If you do your own repairs then thats not a factor. But everything on these cars are more complex and expensive and take longer to repair. Seems like audis have more electrical related problems then most cars though. Control arms are known to go bad and same for wheel bearings. 99-01 are going to be the same. The heart of the cars (engine and tranny) from what I have been seeing last a long time and arent known for breaking. But audis do need to be cared for and cant be neglected like hondas. So as long you keep up on the repairs then all will be well. GL!!
