Audi A4 B5 2000 engine swap
Hey guys, this post is to ask for the wisdom of replacing the underpowered 1.8 n/a with the turbo variant.
From having a look around people are varying with their responses. I understand that the 1.8T will vary in some aspects Ecu, wiring loom, clutch gearbox.. etc but I am finding it hard to believe that these two cars share so little in common.
Some have even suggested that with a replacement of the pistons/crank and obviously an addition of a turbo they are fairly similar which I also find difficult to believe.
Has anyone actually examined both these engines in detail.
All responses welcomed barring those that inform me that I should simply sell and buy the 1.8T as I have spent too long looking at this car to consider letting her go.
Many thanks
AL

we never got the NA 1.8 in north America, so no one knows here. but from the info I have read on other people's swaps, it is best to just replace the entire engine with a 1.8t, along the wiring harness, ecu, and everything else needed. your best bet would be finding a wrecked car to buy.
