Default audi electrical problems

new audi owner. well the audi isnt new, but i am. i bought a 1998 audi a4 2.8 quattro. loving it. the other night i noticed that the interior lights werent working. it was odd because my friend was sitting in the passenger seat using the mirror and the lights around the mirror were working. he shuts the visor and lights go off. after that i try putting the dome lights on for some reason, and noticed they werent working. after i drop him off he shuts the door and the lights click on, then fade out. so now its like a 50% chance, i get in and they are working. then today at work, i noticed again they were working this morning when i came into work, but now at lunch they are not. my co-workers have been telling me they hear the alarm go on and off for about a minute then it stops, i really am lost here...out of my league a little. the car is in excellent shape except for this. another problem i seem to be having is the main display on the dash where it shows the gear your in, and the fuel light...none of that seems to be working. any help that anyone can offer is appricaited. thanks in advance. some other notes about this problem. i noticed the voltmeter sits up around the 15 mark not around the 12 volt mark (in the middle). and the other day i was listening to a cd, not excessivly loud, but it seems that my rear passenger speaker blew. is it possible that to many volts are getting sent through the system shorting things?

13.8 volts +/- is good when the car is running. As for the lights, do they only work with some doors? If the problem is the same for all doors, you may have a failing central locking module which is also the alarm and interior light controller.

The alarm can go off intermittently if you leave a window or the sunroof cracked.
