Default Audi won't start

car worked fine last night/ now this morning it won't. the batteries good (fully charged) and when i go to turn the ignition, it just makes a very quiet click sound 3 times then only the accessories turn on. had no problems starting last night/ now all of a sudden nothing. love these cars but random **** like this is starting to get annoying.

How old is the battery? Just because it shows 12.6 volts at rest doesn't mean it can produce 12-ish under load. Have you tried jumping it?

If you take that out of the equation, my vote is for a bad spot on the starter's commutator...time for a rebuilt starter. But first take the battery to a shop and have it tested under load.

Most likely just needs a new starter, but follow his advice^. Also, if you decide to take the starter in to be tested, don't trust the results. I took two bad starters down, and they both tested fine. The run enough amps through them to make them spin anyway.

put the car up on ramps or jack stands and tap on the solenoid a few times with something solid (not metal though) and see if it will start after that.

If you have 9.5 volts under load, then it's either the cables to the starter (not terribly likely) or the starter (far more likely).
