Default B5 -98 2.6 quattro can't fit 18" wheels

Hello

I bought a set of 18" rims with winter tires, audi s-line replicas and can't seem to fit em on my car

my mate had same wheels on he's B5 and i have seen 19-20" on B5 so it's really strange. And my summer tires were sitting on 18"

So here's the problem, i fitted the first wheel in rear and noticed chassis joint is touching the tire, just and just from the inside edge.

Here's picture to demonstrate

EDIT: Tires are 245/40/18

More importantly, how did you get a 2.6 liter engine!?!? That must be extremely rare! :P

My guess is the tire size is too big OR to high of an offset on the wheels. Post spec on tires and we could help ya since I think tires are the issue!

Tires are 245/40/18

And i got the 2.6 engine by living in Finland, here it's the most common B5 v6 engine

Sounds like the offset on the wheel is wrong, might need to see if a spacer will help it fit.

On the B5 we cant run a tire that is much taller then 25", if it is taller then that it will hit the arm. What size is the tire that is on the wheel?

That's a wide tire! Depending on the offset of the wheel that's your issue. Just a side note... Tires that wide are no good for winter! wide tires are great for summer but in the winter a thinner tire will get more traction than a wide one.

To find the offset of the wheel it should be stamped on the inside of the wheel as ET## or ##ET

245/40/18 will sure not fit. i had the same problem. a spacer should take care of the problem on the inside however, you'll rub the fender. i actually chipped my paint in a couple of places

Fenders won't be a problem since i have stock coilovers and alot of clearance, but yea will be installing 5-10mm spacers

The width is not the issue, its the side wall height. Tires are just way too tall since that size is 25.75" tall. To run 245 on a 18" wheel you need 245/35/18 tires which is 1" shorter at 24.75".

Height of a set of 245/40/17's are pushing it and thats on a 1" smaller wheel.
