B5 98 timing chain parts????

Exclamation B5 98 timing chain parts????

Hey guys. I just got my first b5 and i have to change the timing chain tensioner. I just want to ask, if you guys know any sites where i can order it from. I was looking at ecstuning but its like 600bucks. So if u guys know any site please let me know (4Äudiß5)

technically, its a timing belt, not a chain. Blaufergnugen has a good kit that everyone seems to like. I used it in mine and have no complaints.

thank you for the help guys but i already found it. i got for half the prize at globalgarage.biz and it was next day delivery. this guy is really good with german cars and helped me a lot. he is located in akron oh.
i have 2.8 98.. i cant wait to fix it and put some coilover on it

The $600 is for the tensioner, the chain shouldn't ever need replacement. Did you break it somehow? Remember you have to count 16 links between the timing marks when you install it.

Did they switch to chains in 98 and not tell me?

No silly pants, all the 1.8, 2.8, 2.7, and 4.2L engines have the same cam tensioner chain design, you're thinking of the timing belt, the chains under the valve cover connecting both cams with a tensioner. Thats how it adjusts valve timing.

Yeah as soon as he said "timing" I thought timing belt, my oops lol.
