Exclamation B5 AEB 1.8T Quattro Help NEEDED!!!!!!!!

recently bout a new timing belt kit, head gasket & valve cover gasket with tensioner gasket along w/ cam locking tool (waiting for my new oem cat converter to arrive on tuesday need that to pass smog)

totally forgot to mark my chains before removing them from cams!! i know that you have to count 16 rollers in between the cam marks.
the only problem while transferring the cams and chain and tensioner with cam locking tool on it.. i accidentally dropped it and the cam locking tool slipped off tensioner!!!!!! now when i went to install cams back into place and after having re-installed cam locking tool and releasing it, it doesnt do anything, it seems not to have the tension any longer!!

my question is will my chain tensioner still work?? or is it broken or fixable??
any input would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible becuase i have to pass smog on wedsneday morning or sooner and cant put the car back together till i find out if my chain tensioner is any good the way it is now??

sounds like the spring inside of it fell out when you dropped it. Look around on the ground by where it fell.

it has the spring on the top half of it, they way it fell down i guess since it was on carpet, it didn't really fly around? the cam locking tool just slipped off the top chain pad. now the bottom half didn't completely come off but i guess it must of lost its tension???
would the dealer be able to put the tension on with a special machine or something along those lines or is the tensioner just dead now???
