Default B5 to B6

hey guys, Its been a while. After i finally got rid of my 96, it took forever to remburse myself for the money i lost. About 5000 in total, not 100% lost cus I wont ever get that experience again with such a unique car. But still 5000 gone. Im heading out to college in th efall in colorado and im looking to get another awd car. im driving my brothers subaru forester for now and have looked alot into Outbacks legacy 2.5gts and wrx and some sti's, a few volvo xc's and a eclipse gsx, but the Audi is just sooo appealing. I want a B6, looking at a 2002 5 speed turbo to be specific. Besides the normal miles and everything that matters, is there any downfall in a B6 than a b5. I like th elines more on the B6 and the front end. But if its going to cost more then its not worth it in my book. Im about to be a broke college student, so anything would help to help me not make a mistake! Thanks.

if your about to be broke i would advise agaisnt over spending. a monthly car payment is not something you need. but lets assume you have cash. i know a couple people with b6's and from what i know they are verysimilar, just a little bit different looking. since i have an 01, it damn near the same thing. but what im wondering is why spend 10g's on a b6 when a b5 s4 will smoke it, and, imo, looks alot better too. if i were you i would start look for an s4. i have come across some pretty damn good deals on craiglist.

^ A B5 S4 would cost more to maintain than the A4.

when i went looking for a new car i found that the majority of the time the 01 A4 B5 was 2k cheaper than an average mileage 02 A4 B6. imo my 01 A4 works just fine, no need to spend the extra cash as i am too a college student and like all of us i'm broke.

yeah i know and S4 is faster and nicer, but alot more expensive. And i was just wondering if the overall maintance from b5 to b6 would be about the same.

i think this should be in the B6 section not the b5 section. but i dont think there much of a difference between the two, b6 is nice i wanted one too, but id rather get a 6speed over the 5.

I have to agree that if you are entering school watch you payments (though I entered college with a nearly $300 payment and was just dandy for my 5 years). I don't understand how the B5 S4 is going to be more cost effective anyway, the maintenance alone could run more than a B6 A4's payments in a bad year. Personally I have been looking for a Dolphin Grey B6 Avant to replace either my A4 or my Cougar in the next year or so. Such a perfect wagon, my wife hates wagons and I have her almost ready to ditch my Explorer for an Allroad or A6 Avant.
