Default B5 Exhaust Questions

So I have a 98 A4 2.8L Quattro and am looking into buying a magnaflow 14815 muffler. My question is can this be added directly to the stock pipes? I am looking for a stronger exhaust sound, will just the muffler be effective? Any help is appreciated.

I hear alot of people do a resonator delete in addition to the muffler. And yes, it can be welded to your stock pipes.

I was reading through the forum here and saw that some others were talking about the deletion and it sounded like being louder was the only reason to do that, is that true or does it do anything else for you? Also is there a good catalytic convertor upgrade for this car?

RichardCVan - I will let you know if I go through with this and we can talk about the stock muffler.

I would not delete the resonator. I've heard it makes the car horribly loud with little performance gains.

That is what I was thinking. Anyone with any input on the catalytic convertor, will this add any sort of worthwhile gains?

if you have the 2.8 engine just get the muffler and you will be good

NOT sure how reliable the seller is, but anyone who's looking for a magnaflow muffler should check these sale prices before they're gone
