Default b5 speaker questions

I have the non Bose audio set up in my 1996 a4. To my understanding, the individual speakers themselves are amped. Well, I'm told that all of mine are blown except for the front right speaker and tweeter. Also, i have an aftermarket Kenwood receiver . So another question of mine would be, could i just replace the factory speakers with aftermarket ones and use the stock wiring or would i have to rewire everything from the receiver?

if no then, anyone know where to get factory b5 speakers, other than a dealer? haha.

Merry Christmas,

Matt

Yes, I bought some Polk speakers from Circuit City and they sound better than the OEM ones. Easy install too.

Are you sure they are blown? I know you said non Bose but the Bose ones sometimes have the dust covers come lose and sound blown could potentially be the same story. Anyways even on a Bose system you can replace all of the front speakers. The rear 2 just require the addition of an aftermarket amp to replace. A small 100w rms x2 amp would be more then enough for a good set of speakers and would add a ton of bass. And for the fronts w/ my Bose system I have 2 Polk mmc6500 speakers in my rear door and plan on upgrading the front ones to mmc5250's. And in my rear deck I am going to put 2 8" subwoofers on the amplifier I have. The Polks sound great in the rear doors. They are a little quieter then the stock ones but they are 100x better sound quality and much deeper bass. Oh but I should mention the Polk Momo 6.5" speakers which are the MMC6500's technically do not fit!

do the tweeters in the front run off the main door speakers? thus if the main speakers aren't working, the tweeter wouldn't work either?

get a pry bar and try not to break the plastic hooks that hold on the door panel. Problem the panel slides up and off and the larger speaker hits a bar when your trying to install the door panel. Once the panel is in place your fine but gl getting the panel off ever again LOL.
