Default Bad MAF or faulty wiring??

I keep getting code 16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70): Signal too Low
P0102 - 35-00 - -. If i clear the code it will come back seconds after I clear it. MAF is reading 0.0g/s in the 002 measuring block at all times. I checked the wiring and found a wire that was exposed so I fixed the wire and still the same problem. All the wires look fine otherwise. I haven't been able to trace the wires all the way to the ECU yet. Do the wires go from the MAF to another plug such as one of the plugs behind the coolant reservoir? Is it common for the Audi MAF's to go so bad that it gives no reading at all? Thanks

YES ITS COMMON. I've been through 3 MAF's. Also if you are running a K&N filter, it will kill your MAF. I dunno why on these cars, and I didn't believe people on this forum when I first joined, but sure enough K&N Filter killed my MAF.
