well i just ordered a magnaflow 14815 for $175 should be here thursday ...i am planning to run new piping from flex --->> stock resonator --->> new muffler. The piping would be new 2.25 since the inlet is 2.25 on that magnaflow. I will let you know how it sounds...seems like my cheapest option and if i dont like it with resonator i can go back and delete it or get a new vibrant resonator from magnaflow. Either way this new set up should sound better then that stock one with leaks and what not

You won't hear a whole lot of difference with just the muffler, maybe a deeper tone at heavier throttle. The resonator makes the system. You'll see this week

so should i delete resonator or your saying get a magnaflow resonator or different brand? I dont want anything too loud because my drive too school is three hours and i come home often for work so i dont wanna deal with a loud drone for three straight hours haha

You will definitely want a resonator - without one it's ridiculously loud. With what you're saying, just do the muffler first. If its not enough, replace the resonator with an aftermarket one. Step by step is smart. I went directly to aftermarket muffler and resonator since a friend with a 30v had the same setup already and I loved it.

Default 2000 audi a4 2.8 30v

so i just got my magnaflow 14815 and called a couple shops. My regular audi specialist mechanic says this muffler probably wont fit my body **** (B5) but i know ive seen this muffler on a number of B5 2.8s. All i want is to keep everything stock just add muffler is this possible or it wont fit?

it will fit - go to a local muffler shop which shouldnt cost more than $50 to swap it out.

It isn't a direct fit because the piping enters the stock muffler at an angle and the Magnaflow is a straight-in style. They'll have to cut some piping off and bend a new piece to make it join. No big deal.

yeah we will see. Im sure they will figure something out imma bring it over to a shop tomorrow morning. I should of done this before but im reading reviews about it and people complain that the MF 14815 is loud and sometimes can be "droany" at highway speeds. Will this exhaust with my stock set up be unbearably loud? highway drone? I dont want anything loud as i have a long commute..you think it will sound good with stock set up? and be bearable/no drone at highway speeds?

here is a video of my old a4 same engine same muffler everything else stock
there is no drone at all, all you hear is the exhaust note but on the highway it does get pretty annoying if you dont have music playing. our cars do run at pretty high rpms at higher speeds so the exhaust will make noise but no drone... it definitely wont drone like all the civics with those far cannon exhaust on them lol
