I just bought new rear bilstein sport shocks for my 2000 a4 with sport suspension. The Bilstein shocks only have 1.5" of travel before they hit the bump stop on the shock.The OEM shocks had 2.5" of travel before they hit the shock bump stop.Is this a problem? Have others noticed this on the Bilstein shocks?

 

The Bilstein Sport shocks are really meant for lowered cars. If you're running the stock sport package springs, you'd be better off with OE or Bilstein HD shocks.

Or, swap out your springs with some Eibach or H&R drop springs.

 

I will call Bilstein and see if I ordered the wrong shocks for my OEM sport springs,I do not want to lower the car.I was under the impression that there sport shocks were for the OEM sport springs that are lower then the non sport suspension.

 

OE sport springs are a bit lower than OE standard springs, however, I believe Bilstein's "sport" shocks are designed for cars lowered with aftermarket drop springs. Bilstein HDs are usually what most people use as replacement if I recall correctly.

 

I checked Bilsteins web site and there was no info on what shock was a replacement shock for the OEM spring.I will call them Monday AM.

I spoke to the Bilstein tech today he said that the sport shock is for aftermarket lowered springs and the OEM Audi sport suspension that is about .75" lower then the audi non sport suspension.He said that the Bilstein sport and the Bilstein HD have the same valving and the HD is .50" longer.

Funny how some web sites are calling for the Bilstein Sports on the Audi Sport Package... Kinda makes you think that 99% of the 'audi part sites' actually have no clue....But, then Bilstein says the same thing

According to the Bilstein tech yes they are correct for my Audi A4.
