No because the MAF reads the amount of air before it hits the DV, so it thinks all that air is going back in. When you add a BOV, it may read 50cfm (pulling #'s out my butt), but then the BOV gets rid of say 5cfm of that air.

If the CPU thinks theres 50cfm of air going in, it will put in enough fuel for that much air. If there is really only 45cfm of air going in and fuel for 50cfm of air, you run rich.

Here are the anti-benefits:
-you will run a little lean
(this is not really a problem)
are you fvcking kidding me?? not really a problem?? do you know what running lean causes? running lean causes excess heat, which can blow your engine.. besides, with a BOV, you will run rich, not lean

if you choose to get a BOV, all you have to do is recirculate it and you will be fine. you'll get the sound and no running rich..

sooner or later these noobs here will understand this

You said that you could re-circulate the air. How do you do that?

Josh

Just wondering

recirculating a BOV essentially turns it back into a DV. while usually keeping the BOV sound. ATP sells an adapter fora greddy BOV for like $15as well as others.. it just gives you a place to clamp a hose onto it to run the air back into the post MAF sensor intake trackt.. ill see if i can find yo a link for a few things

EDIT*

the recirculation adaperts are what you want. either for the GReddy TypeRS or the HKS SSQ. whichever one you get

the way that the mazda guys fixed this problem on Mazdaspeeds was to put the maf on the boosted side... then it always knows exactly how much air is making it to the intake manifold.

is this possible to do on an audi?

Not trying to fuel the fire, because this is a totally dead topic, but you guys forgot one thing about BOV positives. BOV allows faster shifting in BT setups, b/c your engine will rev down quicker between the gears. Yes it will run rich, but if your not being a complete idiot, and flooring it everywhere you go, it wont really hurt anything besides the cat. And who gives a **** about the cat anyway, its a 1.8L how bad can the emissions possibly be.

Now if your a moron and your hammering on it non stop, yes you could burn a valve or soak the oil. but it would have to be really really REALLY rich for a really long time, on a motor that already has a ton of blowby for either of these to occur. The one thing you will do running rich is leave extra carbon deposits, but if your running good gas like BP Ultimate or Shell V-Power it shouldn't be that bad.
