I was actually hoping for something useful. <IMG src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0"></P>

That link just shows that some riceboys have transcended onto the Audi scene. <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P>

Does anyone have a link to aftermarket Bypass valves that are reasonably priced? Would the S4 OEM bypass valve work as an upgrade for the A4 if you got the car chipped, etc.?</P><edited><editID>pacman3000gt</editID><editDate>37957.5127546296</editDate></edited>

that is useful - I was more or less telling you not to get a Blow Off Valve like you mentioned in your first post. If you had asked about bypass valves I would have talked about bypass valves.

If you chip an A4 - the TT225 oem bypass valve works nicely (I have it in my car). And its cheap at around 30 bucks at TTStuff.com. If you go full aftermarket like a Forge or Baily they will run you 100-150 bucks and require regular maintenance (ie. oiling), unlike the oem valves. TTStuff.com has those for the A4 as well.

your only real option there would be to get a hybrid valve its a cross between the two recirculating some air and venting the rest. thoughive never heard howgood they work on audis

I know a guy that tried a new hybrid style valve and he got rid of it after a month - did not hold boost as well as a bypass valve.

Stay with a BPV. If you want cool sound get an air intake system. At least that has some performance value. On our cars a BOV does nothing but hurt the car and performance.

God - what is with everyone and blow off valves lately? They want to be in 'Fast and the Furious' or what? Save that stuff for the Civics - its expected of them. Don't ruin a nice German vehicle by making it sound like rice.

BOV isn't rice... wanting to get the 'psssssssshhh' sound just for the sake of the sound... is. <IMG src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0"></P>

I think an alternative is to get an aftermarket ECU that will gauge the incoming air closer to the TB as opposed to using a MAF/MAS(not sure what the A4 uses)before the turbo. If you are dead set on getting the 'psssssshhh' sound, get your car an aftermarket ECU that lets you use a MAP sensor to track incoming air... <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">And do it properly... or go the rice route and get those nifty little gadgets you can put in your exhaust. </P>

uh - why else is there to want it? Thats the only thing it does! It has absolutely no performance value on a typical turbocharged A4.

Pacman has a point - there are software systems that normally come with larger aftermarket turbos that allow you to completely tailor your own fuel mapping etc. The A4 still uses an MAF system though, and there would be a few hardware changes needed to accomodate such a change.
