I noticed today when I went from a dead stop trying to merge onto the freeway, giving it WOT and shifting at 5k, in second and third gear, at exactly 3k-4k rpms, the boost cuts out in short little spurts. Then after 4k its fine. Any ideas? I'm looking to buy a boost gauge. Where can I get adecent one for around $80 - $120 bucks? I'm not into spending $150 +.

 

A good autometer gauge is about $40-50. My guess would be you are either having misfires due to plugs being bad or the gap has grown.

 

ok, thanks cincy. I was also doing a little googling and some related issues may be a bad MAF, or something with the wastegate? no? I did take the airbox apart to do the airbox mod about 3 weeks ago, and before that it was running fine. So I have a feeling it could be the MAF. I'm just gunna pop off the rubber seal that sits on top of the box and disconnect it and run it down the road once or twice. Thats not gunna cause any problems due to it running lean will it?

 

You shouldnt of hurt the maf since the element never got touched or damaged in the housing. You can do what you are saying, it just wont run as well since the maf is the only input of the ecu on incoming air

 

well I actually got kinda curious and started to take the MAF housing off, and then stopped myself and just replaced the screws and went back to doing the mod. I didn't actually take the whole thing out, but I did kinda move it around and kinda pulled on it a bit.

 

Mine did the same thing but at around 2400 rpm where it would lose power for like 1/4 of a second and then when i got over that 2400-2600 range it would be normal. What the problem was for me was a loose connection basically along the vacuum line. Id look for something like that ur problem sounds familiar but the rpm range isnt the same so idk.
