Default Bosch "Small" Oil filter vs Large Mann Filter

did an oil change today. took the large mann filter off and replaced with the Smaller bosch filter from ecs.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-...lter/ES251926/

now after i woke up from a nightmare i need to know, will the smaller filter cause increased pressure in the system because of the more oil 2.8 engines takes? ----> causing leaks in seals/ gaskets

kinda scared. im almost about to go and get the large mann filter and do some emergency surgery and swap those filters, even though the bosch is barely a day used.

While I believe the Audi Techs on here who swear by the Mann filter(that's what I use), I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I'm sure there have been many people who have used lesser filters than the Bosch who didn't damage their engine.

You gotta relax more, man. "Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things".

agreed. you should be fine with the Bosch filter as long as you stick to a reasonable oil/filter change interval. When I bought my car it had a no name cheapy filter on it. I got the Bosch filter from ECS with one of their maintenance kits, along with the timing belt kit. Got a Purolator filter next as I was doing an engine cleaning cycle with a short interval change. Currently using a Mobil 1 filter.

No issues with any of it so far.

I wouldn't worry. The 2.8 has more oil, but the turbo on the 1.8t is what cooks the oil.

I'd stick with the Mann filter, too, but the Bosch (made by Purolator or Champion Labs, depending on who got the lowest bid for that batch) is not really a 'bad' filter, but I'd bet Mann is far superior if you bothered to take one apart. They are rated for 30,000 km (although we stick to the 10,000 mile intervals here).
