Default Bought this turbo on eBay? Good? Bad? or WTF?!?!

I scour eBay from time to time looking for good deals. I cam across this turbo which is brand new in the box and could not say no since it was a seriously good deal. I could not get enough details from the seller about it to figure out exactly which it is but assumed it was S200 series. Its not. Its definitely not a gas turbo either.

Here is the compressor dimensions:

62mm inducer
87mm exducer

Should put its output range from 300-700hp with ease.

Here is some pictures beside a GT3071R.

I obviously will not be using it since the hotside is 17.5cm but it would be interesting to see it used. I will most likely relist and sell it to a sled puller or maybe a DSM guy.

I converted the cm2 to regular AR and it 1.33 which is not as bad I thought.

Looks like it should go on a diesel. Is that a QR code on the tag riveted to the cold side? Can you get a close up of that? Turbine housing aside, you'd have a real hard time getting that compressor housing to work without hitting the passenger's side headlight.

Yeah I don't think it would be the best idea for an A4 but maybe someone else. It has some nice features and size with it being a S362-ish in size and the ported shround comp cover.

It does have one of those funky bar codes but it does not work when you scan it.

You don't need two headlights...

Did you really say 300-700 hp? That is a fairly wide range.

Yes 300-700. Thats not peak hp, thats what hp range it can be used on. Its how they are rated.

Its an interesting turbo. I think its way to big for a daily driver unless you have a V6 or the like. Even then it would not be my first choice. On a diesil pickup it would probably be awesome. I am going to sell it as pulling turbo and see what happens. I have another turbo that makes this one look a like baby.

This is kind of funny but not really. I bought both the turbos in the picture and recieved them both today. The Borg was some what a pleasent surprise. However the Garrett beside it I bought to run on my A4. Some problems though. I bought it thinking and was told that it is a GT3071R. Its not. Its a GT3076R with a 7+7 compressor style. This really throws a wrench into things for me.

The GT3071R was going to be the biggest turbo I planned on running. I was told it is 84 trim turbine but its 90 trim. It also has the .86 AR housing. Its in excellent condition as well but I am thinking this thing is just to big for what I am wanting.

On the flip side I could build a 2.0 setup and see how well this would work but I am still thinking this is way too big.

a 3076 in any variety is a very popular turbo for our cars, albeit a 90 trim with an .86 is a bit big. it would probably make a great drag turbo for high revs, but pretty bad street driving. even with a 2 liter, it ould be too big for street driving in my opinion

as for the BW turbo, that is for sure not a s200. that thing looks more like it belongs on a semi, but if you wanted to run it, bullseye does a ton with BW turbos and im sure they would have an approriate sized housing for that. it looks like a t6 flange. i bet with a t4 dual scroll housing, around 1.10 a/r, you could spool it, but good luck fitting it under the hood. its very difficult to fit dual wastegates in our cars (has been done though), but with a t4 housing? more trouble than its worth. care to share what you paid for it?

I paid just over $200 shipped. Not quite as good a deal as the 3 factory refurbished Garrett t3t4 57 trim carts I got for $210 shipped in my opinion. I didn't buy the borg warner for my audi. Bought it since I knew it was going to be a good deal mostly.

Pretty sure you mean it is a 3071r-WG 90 trim, I don't think Garrett ever made a 3076r-WG 90 trim. The 3071r-WG 90 trim is part number 700382-20.

The one you have is also in a 2871r style compressor housing, they usually came with a 4" inlet housing or with a 2.75" inlet housing. But if you really want to know which it is just measure the compressor wheel inducer/exducer and the turbine wheel inducer/exducer.

If it is a 3076r with the 90 trim exhaust wheel then it is the ATP hybrid setup.
