Default Bov/dv

i have an 01 1.8t and im getting a revo chip and a magnaflow exhaust.. first is a BOV a different name for a DV? if not then would i just replace the stock DV with a new BOV? lol.. i just no that a blow-off valve makes a cool noise.
i was reading the newbie guide and there's 2 sections, 1 for DV and 1 for BOV so it sounds like they r two different parts..

DV = recirculates the excess air back into the intake. thats what audi's have stock.
BOV = Puts excess air into the atmosphere

you can replace the dv with a bov you just have to do it right and pick out a good bv like the forge 004 (i believe thats right)

if you upgrade your dv its going to handle the added boost from your chip that your stock dv can't handle, but will be doing the same thing.

that would be a dv. the air that already entered the car is present and accounted for. as far as the ecu is concerned, that air is still in there. running a bov lets air out into the atmosphere, so the a/f mixture wont be correct. because you have a 01, as ive been told, they have a map sensor too so technically if your gonna run a bov, its better to do in a 01 than earlier years but i still wouldnt. stick with a dv

or if you want a dv that makes the cool noise get the Forge splitter....
its a diverter valve but you can make it recirculate 90% of the air back into the system and then blow off the other 10% into the atmosphere.....and you still get the wooshhhh sound

Yeah I want to go with a dv.. Is the forge007 an easy install. I read that it was but I don't have any way to get under the car.. No ramps or anything..

if you expect to work on your car you need to have the basic tools required for the job. you cant expect to cook a huge thanksgiving dinner with no stove or oven can you?

BOV's being bad for the car is a myth. crappy BOV's are bad for the car. you just need a good quality one that can be adjusted so that it is closed at idle. either way its a simple bolt on mod. all you need is a screw driver. the hard part is getting to it, its a little buried behind the passengers headlight.
