Brake help!
I have a 1999 A4 1.8T Quattro. My back brakes are done for and it looks like I will need new rotors as well. I was thinking about ordering stuff online and having a repair shop do the work. Any suggestions on what type of brakes to get? What parts I will need exactly? And if this is a good course of action. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
why not do them yourself and save a few hundred $$? all you need is a floor jack and jackstand, a lugnut wrench and some allen keys or allen sockets. the tool to retract the rear callipers is a free rental at autozone or similar.
then all you would need is a set of pads and rotors.

I would love to do the work myself. I just dont know how. If I knew how, I would do it.
Cistem is a name I use to do my artwork. And I dont really have much car mechanic experience but I am confident I could do this sort of thing. I work in a metal shop and am familiar with tools.

My huge problem is that I live in manhattan KS and I cant find a place that works on Audi's. That's one of the main reasons I am considering doing it myself. Do you guys think Audi brakes are easy enough for most mechanics to work on?
The calipers will run some bucks, and unless you really messed something up, you shouldn't need them. The pads and rotor you 'might' be able to get at autozone or something similar. I did front pads and rotors about 3 months ago, and got them from AZ for a little over a hundred for the whole set up. Check the DIYs, it's fairly simple if your decent with tools and stuff. It will definately save you a few hundred to do it yourself...
Oh wow, you are in Junction City too. You are real close to me. Do you happen to know where I can get my brakes replaced? I need it done pronto. My rear brakes are in terrible condition and I just now got money to fix em. Thanks
