brake/suspension question
O.k. I've had my A4 for almost a week now and took it through a mountain road for the first time today. I quickly noticed something strange while braking into a left turn. The car shakes pretty bad and I hear some harsh rubbing/knocking. While driving around town and on the freeway, I always felt the brakes make the car vibrate a little under hard braking, but someone told me it's because of my drilled and slotted rotors. The brake pads should be fairly new but my car is lowered, if that could have something to do with it, I don't know. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
it sounds like your rotors are warped and your tie rods or control arms or both are in need of being replaced
i have a used set of brembo slotted and cross drilled by ecs tuning laying around that were on my car for about 20,000 miles that i no longer need since i went with the A8/TT brake upgrade pm me if you are inested in the rotors

Drilled and slotted rotors = noisy, longer stopping distances, and shorted pad life.
If the car is vibrating heavily ro the steering wheel or pedal are shaking under braking conditions, check the rotor run-out, the tie-rods for play, and the wheel bearings.
If it's just noise like a dump truck using it's JakeBrake, it's likely due to the slotted rotors. Believe it or not, you'll have better stopping performance n the street with blank rotors.

I know someone who has them on their truck and they have no problems either. I looked really close at my rotors today and noticed that there were some dark areas on the ones in the front. I'm assuming these are the culprits. So, I guess I'll be visiting my local tire shop soon.
