C ould it be fuel pump?
So about a month ago I would have trouble starting my car, my car was just cranking but it wasn't catching. I thought I was out of fuel cause my fuel gauge is broken so I ran to the gas station, got some fuel, poured it in the car and nothing happened. So I waited about 20 minutes and my car started right up. This happened a few times on seperate occasions until my starter died. After replacing my starter I continued to experiment and my car would sometimes start up and stall immediately and then I would have to wait 10-15 minutes till I try to start it again and it fires right up. Then it stalled on me once while I was driving and a couple of times just idling the car in a parking lot. Any ideas...?
I'm having similar problem now with my 2001 allroad. It's currently in the shop (excellent Indie mechanic) who has been investigating the problem. We're certain it's an electronic problem (power not getting to the fuel pump relay). What makes the diagnosis more challenging is the intermittent occurrence of the problem.
youthink its power problem to the relay?... check power to the relay and then if it has power, then the power shouldnt magically go away, it be more likely the relay is worn out, open up the relay and look at the coil and see if it is discoloured and look at the contacts and see if they are burned up, also if your fuel gauge does not work sounds like you need a fuel pump anyways, also if you can afford it do a fuel filter while you do the pump.. but i know these filters are considered " forever filters" but i sucked it upi and dropped my gas tank on my car to do the filter and pump and it fixed my problem and it also helped my fuel economy a little!!
