Question Camshaft and Crankshaft Seal for Timing Belt change.....???

While studying and going over the DIY guides for changing the timing belts, they never mention anything about changing the camshaft and crankshaft seal and I see them in a kit Im about to order......

Are those necessary to change and how would I go about changing them?

most people dont replace them because to get them out you might scratch the metal and ruin the seal but you can do it if to want to do it just be very careful and i also like to use some mr.gasket around the gaskets to make sure its sealed up nicly =D

I replaced them on mine, I couldnt find much about it either, my neighbor helped me. We basically gouged out the old ones by bending them and prying them out, then put the new ones in by tapping them in evenly with a very large socket.

I have an oil leak coming from behind the TB cover and I'm assuming it's from one of those seals. SUPPOSEDLY, new seals were installed when I had my engine swap, but maybe they weren't placed in there correctly or the mechanic damaged the seats. They were from the Blauparts full timing belt kit. I guess I won't find out for another year when it's time to change the TB again.

I had a kind of crappy time getting mine to seal even though I could have sworn I was installing them right.
