When i did mine, i had to use an Oxy Actelyne torch to heat it up enough and a huge pair of channel locks to get enough leverage to break them loose.

When I did mine, I was also replacing the rack, so it was no big deal

well the oxy acetelene torch got the driver side off.. when i got around to the pass. side (the one that needed replacement) i ran out of oxygen.. .of course... after 3 hours of trying without heating up i gave up and went to a local machine shop this morning to get it dis-assembled... should have just sprung for the entire tie rod instead of ends... so advice for anyone replacing tie rods (JUST GET THE WHOLE TIE ROD FOR 20 MORE DOLLARS) anyways, after all this I found a recall for our cars on tie rods... so i prolly could of got all this done for free at the dealership... but then again it wouldnt of been the heavy duty meyle's
