Default car died when i stopped moving

so a few days ago i was driving along just like a normal day and well she started runnin funny
kinda jerky like a boost spike(even though ive got a 12v)
and when i put the clutch in and came to a stop she died completely turned off
so i started her up again and went on my mary way thinking wtf mate
next stop it happened again
as i pulled into my lane it happened again
so i get home shut her off went to start her to head to a party and it was a no go
turns out my battery was fried could that be why it died at the stops?
i have now replaced the battery and it runs great

a battery could do that. if you put 100% of your electrical needs onto your little 90w alternator, it would cause it to suck alot of power from the engine, causing the stall. my question is with a dead battery how did you manage to restart the car after the first time?

Well my theory is.. Your alternator is broken so you were running on your battery untill it got low and your motor started stalling, then you got home and left it there untill the battery completely drained. So watch out because the new battery might die in a day or so if it really is the alternator.

i dunno- if your battery ran out of enough juice to make sparks and run your instrument cluster, it certainly wouldnt have enough power to turn over a V6 engine. it all depends on how long your drive was i guess, and maybe you turned off your radio in your sig after the first stall happened.

i guess if this happens again- its your alternator. if it doesnt then it was your old battery. get a volt meter and see what your new battery is reading now. it should be 12.6v with the car off, and around 14v with the engine running.

because at that point in time i think i had only destroyed one or two cells so it had enough power to start back up
both times before stopping i was going about 50ish so it had some imidiate power to pull
and i think its from leaving my lights on that day at work and my sound system destroying it
i just wanted to know because my know it all dad was like no blah blah blah blah its something more serious
blah blah blah blah
but i have it fixed so far now
when it died though it literally wouldnt even display any lights on the cluster no lights when i opended the door nothing the ***** was dead

i usually run at about 14.5v while driving and yeah when it died the first time i shut my radio off
i was worried pissed and stressed something had gone wrong so i put my thinking cap on
and decided to drive fast and stop as little as possible

while going down my lane it started back up because i bump started it while coasting i hate doing it but i wouldnt have made it to my house without doing so

no way that doesnt sound right even if your alternator is going. Your battery gets recharged when the car is driving so it wouldnt die from that. Did a check engine light come on?

No, if the alternator was going, it wouldn't charge regularly or even at all. I would just pull it off one day when you dont have to go anywhere for a few hours and run to an auto parts store like VIP, and have it tested. Thats a sure way to check for a problem there. Although i dont have the 2.8 so i dont know what kind of a job it is to get the alty out.

If everything is back to normal after the battery was replaced, don't worry much about anything else. Ghostly things can happen right before the battery craps out.
