car sputtering/ delay in acceleration
ok i have a 99.5 A4 2.8 this problem just started today. When i'm pushing the gas to accelerate it will like sputter and not accelerate right away but then it will go. And while its accelerating it feels really bumpy but theres no check engine light or anything. When you let off the gas also the car trys to lunge forward a little bit Ive never had this happen before so idk what the problem is here. Thanks guys
try to scan it first see what comes up for the looks of it you have a misfire that can be caused by many diferent things
plugs, coilpack, icm, injectors, many things but you need to scan it first

I'm going to go to autozone tomorrow because I dont have time now I have to be at work at 3:30. If its a plug or plugs what are good replacement ones to buy there. And also the car has 84,000 miles what is the typical life on a V6 coil pack?
k i drove the car to work tonight and when i accelerated alittle harder in first gear the check engine light came on and started flashing but then it went and stayed as a solid cel. I'm getting the car tested after i get home from school around 1ish today. Hopefully its just something easy like the plugs I guess i'll see.
well just got the codes read and its a misfire on cylinder 3 so I thought i'd try the cheap route and buy a new spark plug and put that in so i did that and its still not running right. Whats the next thing i should try... a new coil?
An easy solution to your problem would be to switch #3 coil with a different cylinder and see if the misfire follows it. IF it does then by a new coil and call it a day.
Oh and replace all the plugs not just one.

yea i bought all the plugs i was just really strapped for time today and it took me awhile to get to the number 3 cylinder because its in the back by the firewall. I just wanted to see if i could get it running alright to drive but yea i plan on doing the rest of the plugs tomorrow. And i have a V6 so its not so easy as to take one coil pack and move it because it has one set of coil packs that u cant removed from each other to try that trick.
