Ahah... As opposed to him, if he were to fishtail he would freak out and pull over and kill the engine while he catches his breath in a paper bag?

Well... No offense, but I don't know of a chick who would not be intimidated by fishtailing and be able to have conrtol.... That IS sort of wicked.

Ok time to clear things up.

FIRST OF ALL. I know downshifting uphills gives you more power, I just never put two and two together since I'm in an autofantastic car.

SECOND OF ALL. Bri, you're using the word wicked wrong. This is a common misconception with out of towners. We don't just say, "dude that's wicked." you have to follow it up with some sort of adjective. "Dude that's wicked cool/rad/pissa/ill/awesome" Ya catch my drift?

THIRD OF ALL. Speaking of drifting, one time in the rain I took a left turn going into Zoomass Dartmouth at 30mph JUST to get the *** to kick out, it did, I laughed and never hit the brakes, I have a witness too ya jerks.

AND LAST. That deer was the scariest thing in the entire world, I can't really explain why (well I could, but you guys wouldn't get it) so **** off.

Back to the original problem, spray some WD40 on the rear drivers side where the upper control arm connects to the spindle and see if the noise goes away. 2 of my A4's had the same problem and that took care of it for a while.

As for the thumping of the brakes, your rear rotors are probably warped. Go to a safe area with no other cars or potential danger around and get to about 60mph and brake hard, If the car does not stop in a straight line or pulls in a direction then you know one or more of your brakes are not functioning properly. I had the exact same problem and both my rear rotors were horribly warped. I replaced all 4 rotors and pads and not braking is smoother than ever.
