Default CEL came on last night

I havent ran the code(s) yet but I suspect it may be bad gas. I filled up the car and drove about 15-20 miles. A couple blocks from my house I stopped at a red light and could hear some slight sputtering from the muffler. ( it didnt sound right ) eventually CEL came on but i continued to drive. About two blocks later I stopped hearing the sputter and the car sounds perfect. Runs fine, no jerking, no loss of acceleration but the darn thing is still on.

I recall in my honda I used to be able to disconnect the battery for a few minutes which resets the ECU but, after searching last night on this forum it looks like that method wont work for Audi's.
Also, you could use a paper clip and jump two pins on the OBD port which flashes a light on the dash and the aount of flashes represents the DTC code causing the CEL. Does this work with Audi?

Anyone have an idea what may of caused this CEL? ( im going to go to autozone this afternoon to have them read it )
I suspect bad gas but, the car seems to be running fine as it was prior to the CEL appearing.

advanced thanks btw.

Disconnecting the battery will get rid of the cell, but make sure you have your radio code, you'll have to enter it in to get your stock radio to work.

Just get the code read, and do a search for the code. If nothing pops up during the search (i doubt it) post the code here.

Where in the north east are you located?

edit: by the way, when/if you disconnect your battery, leave it disconnected for 10-15 minutes.

Just go to Autozone. Have them clear the code when you are done. As you probably know, Autozone will tell you what the code is and to be safe, you can just post it here on the forum and somebody will most likely know what it is too. Sorry, but I have never put bad gas in my car, so I don't know if that is what the problem is for you.

im in queens NY.

hmmm,...I remember changing my headlight switch and I had the battery disconnected for almost an hour and upon reconnecting the radio never asked for a code.

I have the stock tape deck ( which surprisingly sucks ) so maybe the designers thought why put a code if no one wants a tape deck radio.

imma disconnect the battery for a bit and see if it resets it. If it returns i'll go to autozone. Actually if its free i'll go to them first.

Autozone is definitly free. Some times they ask me to put a desposit in, but then it gets refunded so no biggie. Also...I have had the battery disconnected for hours on end and never needed the radio code either. But I always only disconnect the 'hot' side and leave the ground. Maybe that has something to do with it.

long story short i bumped into an old friend that was working on his car in his garage. He has a OBD reader and pulled this code

P0306

Cylinder 6 misfire.

I havent spoken to my brother yet to find out when he last did a tune up on the car. I know I havent changed anything since buying it from him in december.
