center console wont go back down?!?!?!?

center console wont go back down?!?!?!?
the other morning when i got into my car the center console was up a notch...and i like it all the way down. so i tried to press the button and it pushes but i guess its not catching? and now its ALL the way up so i cant even use my center consol. =[ can anyone helppp.
