central locking system/pump

central locking system/pump
I noticed something wrong today when I started my car, shut the door, and the car locked me out. It never does that. I got in with the other key, but the inside lock/unlock buttons don't seem to be responsive either. I replaced the batteries in the key fob, thinking that was the problem, but it made no difference. I tried the steps to sync the key fob, and when the key was in "accessory position" in the ignition, the locking pump (in the rear passenger side of the trunk) was making a ton of noise cycling on/off like it was trying to open or close the locks. I got access to the pump, and noticed some water back there and moisture on the electrical plugs. I didn't disconnect the vacuum lines yet. I can still open the door using the key manually, however with the pump unplugged the car won't start?
Any ways around this while I try to dry out the pump and see if that fixes the problem?
Will drying out the area and using electrical cleaner spray on the connections fix this problem?
Any other advice on what to do from here to fix this?
Thanks.

A little insite from what I've seen: yes, the car will not do anything without the vaccuum module plugged it. You said it's wet on the inside? If you open it up, you can check the graffite parts that actually make the the pump, pump. If that looks all in tact, then I would say that yes, the water is your problem. If it looks like the graffite pieces exploded into a million pieces (thus why my locks don't work), then that's your problem. They have a tendancy to do that...

the electrical board also got wet. cleaning it up with a brass brush and electrical cleaner.
took out the 3 screws on the inside that keep that graphite mechanism together, and it looks like it's intact all in one piece, not broken.

I cleaned up the electrical board the best i could, dried out the foam box and put everything back together. the door lock button inside the car now works to unlock/lock all the doors, and more importantly the car starts.
The last problem is the key fobs still don't work at all, even with fresh batteries. Maybe that part of the electronics board that communicates wirelessly with the key fobs just isn't "coming back"?

Not sure, but at least you have a car that runs now... I've been dealing with manual locking, unlocking with the valet key since I bought my car. One of the many "little" things I've been meaning to fix...
