Changing a '01 A4Q 1.8T Avant into an All-Road/4x4: LIFT KIT??
I'm trying to help a friend out that moved to Costa Rica:
Needing to increase the ground clearance to about where an All-Road sits or high as practical (buying a 4x4 truck/suv is a last resort).
It's a guess, but probably need about 3" more ride height. There are lots of things to take into consideration, such as drive axle and steering rack angles, so it must be done right.
Are there any companies that have a pre-made suspension kit available? Or could economically make one? Suspension spacers might add a little ride height, too.
If anyone has experience with such a project or can recommend parts sources, would like to hear from you.
Thanks!

3 inches higher? the Allroad only has a total ground clearance of 8 inches fit airbags filled and 6 inches in the sport mode... My guess would be a custom air ride would be the way to go!

I've since had some ideas and even found a set of cheap coil-over seats from ECS. They can raise 2", but won't work with the OE shocks. It might work. It might be reasonable to make up some suspension spacers, keeping axle/suspension articulation limits in mind.
If the project has the budget I'll fashion up a under engine bash guard so that aluminum oil pan doesn't crack on first contact, too.
Air bags are probably great for a number of applications, but no so sure about off-road use as a primary "spring". Steel springs are probably the way to go (and stay with) for durability.
Cranking up a set of sport road coil-overs, could possibly get the ground clearance, but the ride quality would likely be awful on anything other than tarmac.
If you can imagine a Paris Dakar Rally prepped A4, that's a reasonable vision (a bit of fantasy there...).
Thanks guys.
