my cousin just got a 2002 gti on friday with 126xxxxx and went to awetuning to get his ecu flash and bought the baily dv too but to find out that the car aready had one so we keep it in there and i bought it off him for 100 (save 45 buck!!).

2 hours later he came over and the car sound funny and have a smell to it. he was spiking 20psi and hold 16psi.

what could be the problem??

 

it sounds funny and smells? what kind of sound and what kind of smell?

it sound like the car dont have power (battery). i was thinking it was his spark plugs or the coil pack but there was no miss fire. i dont know how to tell you how it smell like.... it just a smell near the turbo? sound like a fan hitting platic but not loud when it drop high rev over 55

 

yes to check engine light. he just got it and said he got a warrenty from the dealer

 

well if u just got the ecu flashed then say bye bye to your warranty

 

How many miles are on the car?

Would you describe the sound like a dentist drill at all? Pull off the turbo inlet pipe and check for lateral shaft play.

 

nah not kind of sound... that did come in mind tho... that the turbo fan went bad or something but it still hold 20 psi

 

Okay, if you have the CEL then the first thing to do is scan the codes. As for the warranty, the warranty can only be voided if they can prove that you caused it, though it seems that that might be the case. Though you can have the chip pulled if need be, but hopefully it's something simple that you can solve without having to do so.
