Thumbs up chipping question

Ive been doing research for about a month now and came to the conclusion to chip and DV my 01 b5 1.8t. The question I have for you guys is ive herd back and forth argument about giac vs APR. I know its recommended for giac for b5's. Giac delivers higher boost which may kill your turbo faster and i herd APR is smoother. I just want to know what you guys would recommend for best short term and long term performance.

Thanks

APR gives you better power higher in the rev range, GIAC is better in the middle. Your 01 like me though, so you can always use the diode mod, and save $500

I have the APR chip, its very smooth. as far as the turbo wearing out fast, the old k03 turbo does wear out fast to begin with. I'd say do a K04 upgrade with the chip

i wish i would have went with unitronic, although my giac when i wasnt ko4 helped out a lot it was as smooth as a car can be when it spools...i loved it. now i love my ko4 even more but im in the market for more so bt may be in the works.

The diode mod won't get you the numbers a chip will...just so you know. It's certainly a nice, noticable increase, but you will ultimately get more from the chip.

Find the dealer closest to you and pick that one

The chips for the B5's are pretty much all equal now seeing that we are talking about cars that are between 9-13+ years old.

APR was known to be smoother because their older tunes had a much softer timing/boost curve vs the GIAC tunes. Neither chip pushes the boost so hard that it is going to cause the turbo to die, plenty of others including myself(up to 26psi on the K03) pushing higher boost then the standard OTS tunes without killing the turbo.

Ill probably through in an APR chip with a Forge 009. I think the 009 sounds best to me.
Probably in January ill add in a full exhaust with the APR muffler 2.5". should be nice
