Default cigarette lighter outlet not working

I was in my car last night trying to fix a small tear in the seat with one of those leather repair kits. If you've ever used one before, you know that they require a cigarette lighter or iron to heat the little warming tool. Anyway, I began and it seemed like it was working fine. After a few warm-ups, it simply stopped working. I don't know if its because I borrowed the lighter from my Excursion (The lighter was missing when I bought the car) or maybe I just blew a fuse. I tried using a few car chargers but to no avail. Has anybody else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

i had the same trouble and i changed the fuse thinking that would help and it didn't. i might have to pull out the housing and replace the full stocked.

Measure voltage in fuse holder. Put in a 15amp fuse. Most probably problem solved ;p

im guessing that you using the lighter from the excursion blew the fuse because it is most likely rated for a different amperage. that fuse socket is prolly in the door jam fuse panel and it has a display telling which all the fuses are for. find the lighter one. 9/10 if your 12v lighter/accesory socket isnt working its because a fuse is blown.

Where's the fuse box located? It's a 2001 A4 Quattro 2.8L.

never mind, I found it. It looks like the problem is the fuse. I'll pick a few up sometime this week.

weird thing for me is my cig lighters dont heat up at all, but both sockets work fine. power my gps perfectly. i tried with both the front and rear cig lighters in both front and rear sockets.
