Default cigarette lighter question

If I leave a radar plugged into the dc outlet/cigarette lighter with the car off, can it kill the battery?

I dont see how it could seeing that the plug is only powered when the key is actually on. Well I know it is that way on my 2000 A4 1.8t seeing that I have my LM1 plugged into it.

on my 99.5 the cig lighter is always on, so i would be careful leaving something plugged in...even if it's just a radar detector. could be diff for other years, i dont know.

Now that I think about it you are right. Problem is I have a safety shut off for my battery which cuts power to everything. So when that is off so is my LM1. lol

The outlet shouldn't give too much power when the car is off. Audi makes a flashlight that charges in the cigarette lighter socket. In the directions it says that it takes 15 hours to charge with the engine on, so when it's off, there shouldn't be much power loss
