Default Climate Control Removal 01 A4

Trying to remove the climate control in an 01 A4. I have the radio out already. Also trying to remove the wood trim that surrounds the fog light button and cupholder. Thanks.

The top trim piece just pulls straight off and I am also trying to figure out how to pull this climate control unit out. Unscrewed every screw i could find and the thing still doesn't budge

i think you'd have to remove the whole centre console including the bracket itself before you could remove the climate control.

can someone else shed some light here?

I took out the whole console to get it out. Disconnect the wires in the back and pull it straight out.

By whole console do you mean everything? The Haynes manual didn't have a very good description in it for this so I was leary about pulling the trim from the top wood surround. I did get it to move a bit but it seems to be attached to the trim from behind. I have to take the climate controller apart to clean out the coffee if i ever want to use my defrost or turn it off of auto 70 degrees.

This will break. The clips holding are mostly a one-time deal and the wood is extremely easy to crack. Try using a plastic spatula, but be prepared to replace this trim. It sucks.

So I go today and try to work on getting this climate controller out because now the thing won't stay on. It only works if I press in the slow fan toggle, up and down temps at the same time and continue to hold a button. Anyways, i started to insert the radio tools and lo-and-behold, one of the tools slides right past where it should engage. I worked at it for a while with no results. Anyone know how to get the radio out when the tools won't work or know of how to "reset" the climate controller?

I'm trying to get mine out also. The previous owner must have spilled something on it, I need to get my mine out and clean it.
